Prof. Rick Sarre
Professor of Law & Criminal Justice
Professor Rick Sarre is Professor of Law and Criminal Justice at the School of Law, University of South Australia.
He has degrees from Adelaide, Toronto, Canberra, and Umeå, Sweden. He is the immediate Past President of the Australian and New Zealand Society of Criminology, a position he held for four years. Rick serves on the Board of Directors of the International Police Executive Symposium, a position he has held for ten years. He served eight years as the President of the South Australian Institute of Justice Studies, eighteen years as an Associate of the Australian Institute of Criminology, three years on the Victim Support Service (SA) board, and six years on the Offenders Aid and Rehabilitation Services of SA board. Rick served as Chair of Academic Board of UniSA for six years and on UniSA Council for that period.
Rick has enjoyed teaching stints in the USA, Hong Kong, and Sweden during his 34 years in the tertiary sector. His key areas of research include policing, corrections and restorative justice.
Rick is a sought-after media commentator often called upon to explain, explore and challenge legal and political issues.
