Paula Pownall

Grubs Up Australia

Paula Pownall is passionate about agriculture and primary industries, and understood that the pressures for change are paramount. That’s when she asked the question, "Why can't insects replace traditional sources of protein in agricultural production systems?" The answer is yes, there is huge potential for feeding insects as protein to aquaculture and poultry industries.

Paula is a rural woman with passion, and a purpose to change our perception of protein. Paula has a bachelor degree in agribusiness from Curtin University, and studied business management at Marcus Oldham college.

In 2015 she left her day job to follow her desire of growing insects for human food and animal feed. Paula lives with her husband and two girls in Coolup, Western Australia.
